After an impressive campaign which caught the eye of many across Europe, Milan Skriniar has committed his future to Inter by agreeing a new contract at the club.

The Slovakian was one of the defensive stars of last Serie A season and such performances resulted in both Barcelona and Manchester City being credited in an interest in him.

Although the deal has not yet been announced officially by the club or player, La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the offer which was put on the table by the club several weeks ago has been accepted and Skriniar will soon put pen to paper on it.

“Inter offered him a new contract that is very good and we are happy with it,” his agent Karol Csonto said on Thursday when asked about his client’s future.

Under the terms of his current deal, the former Sampdoria man was tied to the club until June 2022 for €1.5 million per season but that will now be improved to €2.2m per year and keeps him at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza until 2023.

That wage increase will make him one of the highest paid players in the team and is evidence of the Nerazzurri’s intention not to sell one of their key players, particularly with Champions League football returning to the club.
