With Medhi Benatia seemingly on his way out, Juventus will look to replace the Moroccan with an audacious move for AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli.

Benatia is edging closer to a move to Marseille and a reunion with his former coach at Roma, Rudi Garcia, prompting Juventus to consider alternatives in defence.

Whilst coach Massimiliano Allegri is keen on Jose Gimenez, Atletico Madrid are ready to demand the full €65 million of his release clause, and so the Bianconeri are set to turn to Romagnoli, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian international is considered one of Milan’s most important assets and the Diavolo are keen to retain him, with a contract renewal set to be proposed shortly.

However, Romagnoli’s future could be dependent on whether Milan are excluded from the Europa League for failure to meet Financial Fair Play regulations, and a decision that does not go in their favour could be the cue for Juventus to approach.

Romagnoli has made 111 appearances for the Rossoneri since a €25m move from Roma in 2015.
