With Javier Pastore edging ever closer to a Paris Saint-Germain exit, Napoli are set to enter the race to sign the Argentine midfielder.

The 28-year-old has found playing time hard to come by in the French capital over the past few seasons and is at loggerheads with the club, having made clear his intention to leave.

Whilst Premier League outfit West Ham United currently lead the race to land the his, Pastore has now emerged on Napoli’s radar, with ESPN reporting that incoming Partenopei coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen on a deal.

Ancelotti has previously worked with Pastore during his own spell as coach of PSG from 2011 to 2013 and would welcome the opportunity to reunite with the Argentina international.

Pastore has experience of Serie A after a fruitful spell with Palermo earned him a big money move to PSG in 2011, after emerging as a star figure for the Rosanero, alongside current PSG teammate Edinson Cavani.

The Argentina international has made 184 league appearances for the Parisiens, but has been limited to just 51 Ligue 1 matches over the past three campaigns.
