After a difficult debut campaign with Rome, youngster Patrik Schick insisted he won’t leave the capital this summer and will prove his value to the team next season.

The 22-year-old joined the Giallorossi in August 2017 after wowing Serie A spectators in Sampdoria colours, however, scored just two league goals for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side last term.

“Next year I will show who I really am and my future [at Roma] is not in question,” Schick told Lidovky. “It takes time to get to the top. Most importantly you need a healthy body, without you will not get anywhere.

“There is also a lot of competition, but I will work to get to the top. I am now familiar with the environment and now I just have to demonstrate what I can do.”

The Czech Republic international also takes heart from the advice provided by former Roma striker Antonio Cassano and insisted he does not think of Juventus, who he nearly joined before Il Lupi.

“Cassano gave me advice on Roma when we played together,” stated Schick. “He told me that I will have a great career with the Giallorossi and I’m really happy to have moved here, Juve is a closed chapter.”
