The 2018/19 Serie A season will start on August 19, it was confirmed on Monday, as the fixture dates for the new campaign were rubber stamped.

There will be three midweek fixture rounds, which are all to take place on a Wednesday: September 26, December 26 and April 3 the unprecedented St Stephen’s Day round of games taking place for the first time.

On September 9, October 14, November 18 and March 24, the top flight will take a break in order to facilitate international fixtures, including Roberto Mancini’s new look Italy outfit.

As for the other domestic competitions, the Coppa Italia, which is currently held by Juventus following their victory over AC Milan in this year’s final, will begin on July 29 for lower league sides, while the final will be played on Wednesday, April 25.

Although there is no official date set yet, Lega Serie A did confirm that the Supercoppa Italiana has been pencilled in for January 2019.
