AC Milan will look to hold off interest from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid and land Porto full-back Miguel Layun this summer.

The Mexico international’s future looks increasingly likely to lie away from Portugal, after becoming a peripheral figure and spending the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla.

Milan see the 30-year-old as an ideal reinforcement and are keen to strike a deal with Porto, but face competition from Europa League champions Atleti, as well as Premier League outfit Arsenal, according to Record.

Sevilla have the option to secure Layun on a permanent deal for €5 million, but appear set to decline the opportunity, paving the way for Milan to swoop.

Layun’s stock has risen after a starring performance in Mexico’s 1-0 win over Germany in their opening fixture at the World Cup, and the former Watford man has been an ever-present so far in the tournament.

Primarily a right-back, Layun is able to play across the midfield and has featured for his national team as an attacking right-winger in all three of their World Cup Group Stage matches.
