Fiorentina striker Giovanni Simeone has emerged as a transfer target for his own father Diego, as the Atletico Madrid coach looks to boost his attacking options.

The Argentine youngster has enjoyed a fruitful debut season with the Viola after arriving from Genoa, hitting 14 goals in 38 Serie A appearances, and appears to have done enough to convince his dad of his talents.

AS report that Atleti are on the lookout for alternatives to current striker Diego Costa, and Diego Simeone has sounded out a move for his son, despite being wary of courting controversy with such a move.

The younger Simeone, who turns 23 on Thursday, has attracted attention from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Marseille, and Fiorentina are ready to hold out to keep a grip on their star forward.

Spanish league runners up Atletico appear to have turned their attention towards Serie A in their search for a new striker, with AC Milan and former Viola hitman Nikola Kalinic also being sounded out as an option.

Giovanni Simeone is yet to make his full international debut, but represented Argentina at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
