Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to provide the club with new training facilities, holding up Manchester City and their structures as an example to follow.

The two clubs recently saw a deal for Jorginho go up in smoke after he opted to join Chelsea, but that hasn’t diminished the Italian’s opinion of the Citizens.

De Laurentiis revealed that he has sent architects out to Manchester to look at the club’s facilities, as he looks to reshape Napoli’s training facilities and stadium.

“The plan, or at least the goal, is to have 12 training pitches similar to what Manchester City have,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“I sent architects there to study them and have them as a point of reference. There will be hotels, offices and the youth sector.

“The first team will remain at Castle Volturno.”

De Laurentiis also revealed that he is keen to build a new and modern stadium for the Azzurri, one that will focus on the fan experience.

“We may not remain in the Napoli region, but certainly in Campania, as I’ve recently had talks and they were positive,” he continued.

“The logistics are important and the fans are the priority. I want a stadium that fits 30,000 people, but that looks to the future so that it can accommodate other events.”

Last season Napoli finished second in Serie A, four points back of champions Juventus.
