After Cristiano Ronaldo completed his sensational move from Real Madrid to Juventus on Tuesday, Roma took the opportunity to engage in some lighthearted trolling of their Serie A rivals.

Ronaldo became Italian football’s most expensive acquisition in a €105 million deal, as the Portugal captain ended a nine-year trophy laden stint at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Roma, who have drawn praise and attention for having one of the most unorthodox and creative social media teams in world football, were quick to troll Juventus’ new man.

Posting images of club icon Francesco Totti swapping shirts with Barcelona star and Ronaldo’s Ballon d’Or rival Lionel Messi, the Giallorossi proclaimed the former as “the King of Rome” and the latter as “the greatest of all time”.

Roma’s post drew a mixed reaction on Twitter, with a number of fans quick to point to Messi’s poor performance in the Giallorossi’s stunning 3-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona in April.

The images were taken following Roma’s preseason friendly against Barca in 2015, as the Lupi look to rile up Ronaldo and Juventus before the season even kicks off.
