Christian Vieri has likened Cristiano Ronaldo’s impending switch from Real Madrid to former club Juventus to winning the lottery for Serie A.
The Portugal star is edging closer to a sensational €100 million move to the Allianz Stadium, and ex-Bianconeri striker Vieri was quick to stress the positive impact such a transfer would have on the Italian league.
“For Italian football, Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus would be like winning the lottery,” the former Inter and AC Milan man declared on beIN Sport. “At the moment Serie A generates little attention from abroad, because it doesn’t boast the superstars it once did.
“Ronaldo would revitalise the league. Even I would be more galvanised to watch Serie A. Every Sunday, the whole world would wonder how Juventus did and how many goals Ronaldo scored.”
Juventus are hopeful of completing a move for the 33-year-old, who on Thursday reached an agreement with Real Madrid to depart should an offer of €100m come in.
Former Manchester United forward Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s all-time top goalscorer with 450 goals in 438 appearances.
