Having left his position as coach of Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane is to take up a director’s role with former club Juventus, according to a report in Spain.

After leading Los Blancos to an unprecedented three successive Champions League titles as head coach at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, the Frenchman surprisingly opted to bow out on top and stood down at the end of the season.

According to Spanish website Libertad Digital, Zidane will return to Turin in October in an advisory role as assistant sporting director to Fabio Paratici, citing sources close to the Agnelli family.

The report also suggests that Cristiano Ronaldo’s move from Real to Juve has helped convince Zidane to return to Italian football for the first time in 17 years.

During his playing career, Zidane played with the Old Lady for five years and won the Scudetto twice before departing in 2001 to join Real Madrid.

However, it should be noted that AS have reported that Juventus have denied the claims from the Spanish media, particularly given that Pavel Nedved performs essentially the same role at present in Turin.
