Napoli midfielder Allan praised the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus as being beneficial to Serie A, but warned that the Portugal captain would not be able to lift the title alone.

The Bianconeri stole the headlines in the transfer window by landing five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo in a sensational €100 million deal from Real Madrid, as they look to secure an eight successive Scudetto.

After Napoli ran them agonisingly close last season, falling just four points short with a record 91, Allan admitted that Juventus remained the team to beat, particularly with Ronaldo now leading the line.

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in Italy increases the visibility of the league and gives us another reason to compete,” the Brazilian told Lance in his homeland.

“Of course, it is important for Italian football to have a player who has been named the best player in the world five times, it shows that clubs are able to spend again and want to fight for major trophies.

“The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo is very important, he brings a lot of quality to Juvntus, but one player cannot win the title on his own. We only think of ourselves, continue to do what we have always done and try to fight Juventus.”

Allan has scored nine goals in 132 appearances for the Partenopei since arriving from Udinese in 2015.
