Free agents Marco Borriello and Antonio Cassano have become transfer targets for Bologna after veteran forward Rodrigo Palacio sustained a muscular injury in training.

The 36-year-old former Argentinian international has been ruled out for at least three weeks after injuring his left thigh and the Felsinei are looking at another experienced striker to take his place while he is on the sidelines.

Il Corriere dello Sport report that the Bologna board are keen to sign Borriello on a free transfer but they are also keeping their attention on Cassano, who has publicly voiced his desire to return to playing football at the highest level.

Thirty-six-year-old Borriello is now available after he was released by SPAL while fellow veteran Cassano has not played competitive football since he was at Sampdoria during the 2015-16 campaign and he was briefly at Hellas Verona in 2017 but he barely lasted a month with the club.

Cassano was linked with a return to Parma this summer, but that never came to fruition.
