In the wake of their surprise opening day loss to Sassuolo, a squad meeting took place for Inter in which it was stressed that there was no sense in looking for excuses or worrying overly about the result.

The Neroverdi have picked up an impressive seven wins over Inter since 2015, inflicting the most defeats on them than any other Serie A side during that time.

According to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport, a meeting took place at Appiano Gentile in which it was laid out that there was no sense in blaming referees or looking for other excuses and that the side must reflect inwards.

There are no concerns about squad chemistry or relationships within the group but rather, Luciano Spalletti and his staff were keen to emphasise that all involved can and must do better than they did against the Neroverdi.

With some players absent and others still working their way back to fitness after the World Cup, it was also made clear to everyone that their strength is in the size of the squad and was is good enough to make up for any absence.

The main, driving point that Spalletti was keen to impose on his players is that now is not a time to complain or find excuses but bounce back immediately.
