Juventus legend Michel Platini has had his say on the Bianconeri’s surprise summer signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid, suggesting that he was certainly one of those puzzled by the move for the Portuguese.

The 33-year-old moved to Turin in a €105 million deal, reportedly netting €30 million-a-year in wages, but the former UEFA president questioned the value of signing the FIFA World Player of the Year.

“I found it strange that at the age of 33 he left his club,” Platini told L’Equipe.

“I have difficulty understanding this whole deal.”

During half a decade with the Old Lady, Platini himself won the Ballon d’Or on three separate occasions and played a pivotal role in their first European Cup success in 1985.
