Former AC Milan playmaker Kaka is due to touch down in Milan on Wednesday ahead of a spell in which he will intern at the club as he ponders a permanent return.

The 36-year-old enjoyed two separate spells at the San Siro during his playing days, firstly between 2003 and 2009, before returning from Real Madrid for a year in 2013/14.

Following a stint in Major League Soccer with Orlando City, he hung up his boots in 2017 and is now in line to join the new Rossoneri revolution at boardroom level.

After the Elliott Management group assumed control of the club, there has been a bid to freshen things up at all levels, with Leonardo and Paolo Maldini returning in directorial roles.

Kaka is set to join them, albeit in an initial internship role for the next few weeks as he observes how such a role would work before deciding whether or not he wants to take on the job on a permanent basis.

“I have to study things and get a feel for the environment but in the future I’d like to do something more for Milan,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport a few weeks ago when discussing his future.
