Serie A Team of the Week | Round 1

Despite a scare from Chievo, Juventus started off as expected with victory in Verona, whilst the team that many are tipping to be their closest challengers, Inter, fell away to Sassuolo.

Elsewhere, vital away wins for Roma and Napoli ensured they kept pace with the Serie A Champions, as SPAL and Atalanta started with victories over Bologna and Frosinone respectively.

Our Team of the Week will see a 3-4-3 formation deployed. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Stefano Sorrentino – Chievo
He simply never gets old. Another monstrous performance to kick off his Serie A campaign in style. Not enough to avoid defeat, but what a Sorrentino.

Hans Hateboer – Atalanta
The usual push down the flank and the icing on the cake of Atalanta’s second goal.

Matias Silvestre – Empoli
Solid as ever: key to Empoli’s victory.

Francesco Vicari – SPAL
One of the best on the pitch for SPAL: both attacking and defending.

Federico Bernardeschi – Juventus
A goal and an assist: as always, decisive.

Jasmin Kurtic – SPAL
A cracker to give SPAL three golden points away from home.

Kevin Prince Boateng – Sassuolo
Confirmed his ability to adapt to any position with a phenomenal performance as false nine.

Papu Gomez – Atalanta
Two goals and two assists. What more can you ask for.

Roberto Inglese – Parma
Immediately a goal, proving his worth straight away.

Edin Dzeko – Roma
Call him “Van Dzeko”. What a finish, three points to Roma.

Lorenzo Insigne – Napoli
The most Insigne-esque finish to give Carlo Ancelotti his first three points as Napoli coach.
