AC Milan have not given up hope of signing Cesc Fabregas and are planning a fresh approach for the Chelsea midfielder in January.

The Rossoneri have been long-term admirers of the former Arsenal captain, and with only a year remaining on his contract, see January as the perfect opportunity to swoop for him.

Whilst also interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot, Corriere dello Sport suggests that Milan sporting director Leonardo has made Fabregas the top midfield priority and will work on a deal for the next transfer window.

Ideally, Leonardo would like to secure both but is focused primarily on agreeing a deal with Chelsea for former Spain international Fabregas, and Milan would be willing to pay a fee to secure him six months earlier than his contract expiration.

Anticipating plenty of competition for both Fabregas and Rabiot next summer, when they would be free agents, the Rossoneri are looking to move quickly to provide coach Gennaro Gattuso with greater options in midfield.

Fabregas, 31, has scored 21 goals in 183 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Barcelona in 2014.
