With Diego Simeone being linked with a move Serie A for some time, the Atletico Madrid’s agent, and sister, Natalia Simeone, has insisted that it is only a matter of time before the Argentine is leading former side Inter.
The 48-year-old also won a Serie A and Coppa Italia double in 2000 with Lazio and had also been a rumoured destination, but appears that the Nerazzurri hold a special place for Simeone.
“Sooner or later [he will coach Inter], Diego said it himself,” Natalia Simeone told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I think it is only a matter of time, he likes the place, the environment and living in Milan. Inter is a team that he would love to coach, but has also been linked to Lazio.”
It was thought that the former defensive-midfielder might have called time on his career in La Liga this summer before agreeing to a contract extension, and Natalia suggested that her brother has unfinished business in Madrid.
“The passion, in the end, always wins,” stated Natalia. “Diego has been at Atletico Madrid for seven years.
“He is one of the best coaches in the world, but he stays where he believes there is still work to be done.”
