After Napoli surprised the Allianz Stadium by scoring the opening goal, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri admitted as much, but was happy with his teams response and eventual 3-1 win.

Dries Mertens had put Napoli in the lead after just 10 minutes, but Mario Mandzukic struck 16 minutes later, then got the second early in the second half. Leonardo Bonucci got the third on 76 minutes, thanks to another Ronaldo assist.

“We didn’t start very well,” Allegri told the press. “Immediately after conceding, the team played a different game.

“When they [Napoli] went down to 10 men, we shut the game down. But even then Callejon had a chance to score.

“For the rest of the game, we played well. Now we have to think about the Champions League.”

Paired alongside Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic, Cristiano Ronaldo delighted the 39,000 Juventus fans with two assists for the Croatian striker, three in total, in his best game for the Bianconeri thus far.

“He is an extraordinary player,” Allegri went on. “The precision and the speed in his passes is exceptional. We have to be good at putting him in positions to score.

“Tonight, and the half hour against Valencia was the best he has been.”

After his goal against Bologna in midweek, Paulo Dybala kept his spot in the Juventus starting eleven much to the delight of Allegri.

“He had a good game,” the Juventus coach continued. “He is a player, along with Bernardeschi, who can connect the midfield and attack.

“He started the move for the second goal. He is improving, if you only judge him on goal, then you are wrong.”
