Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti insisted he is not angry with his team after they laboured to a 0-0 draw against Red Star in the Champions League.

The Partenopei travelled to Belgrade to kick off their campaign, but came unstuck as they struggled to break down a rugged home side.

Despite the underwhelming result, tactician Ancelotti insisted that that he was not angry with his side, after they dominated proceedings at the Marakana Stadium.

“We were disappointing in front of goal and lacked precision,” the former AC Milan and Chelsea coach declared in his post-match press conference.

“The final steps let us down, which is a pity because we needed to be more precise. The team did not do anything exceptional, but we were a bit slow and came up against a tight defence.

“We played well enough and I’m not disappointed or angry. Given what we did on the pitch, we had to take our chances and win though.”

Napoli welcome Liverpool in their second fixture of Group C, before taking on French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
