It was late heartbreak for Chievo who succumbed 1-0 to Torino as Simone Zaza bagged his first for the Granata at the Stadio Benetegodi on Sunday afternoon.

A swift counter attack by Alex Berenguer saw the Spaniard dart the length of the pitch before playing in Zaza, who finished past Stefano Sorrentino and into the far right corner.

Chances were few and far between during the match, Emanuele Giaccherini scuffed one shot, and had another blocked, while Simone Edera flashed an effort wide.

More of the same was to come in the second half as neither side were able to fashion any real opportunities. Giaccherini did show a flash of brilliance as he played Fabrizio Cacciatore down the left, and his cut-back found Mehdi Leris but he blasted over from six yards out.

As the game wore on it looked as if the points would be shared, but a wicked counter from the Granata, finished with aplomb by Zaza meant Torino go home with victory.
