There appeared to be nothing unusual about an Instagram post from Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia on Wednesday evening, only for two teammates to catch him out.

Although it is currently the international break, the work continues at Appiano Gentile for Nerazzurri players who haven’t been called up or are no longer representing their country.

Among them is Ranocchia, who was not called up for the Italy squad by new coach Roberto Mancini and appeared to be working out in Milan with his teammates, as evidenced by a social media post.

#Training Continuiamo a lavorare ???????? #ForzaInter

A post shared by Andrea Ranocchia (@andrearanocchiaofficial) on

“Training. We continue to work,” he wrote. “Forza Inter.” On paper, it appeared that there was nothing unusual about such a post, until you took a look at the replies.

It was there that Radja Nainggolan and Antonio Candreva, neither of whom are on international duty, pondered why the former Hull City man had published such a photo when he hadn’t in fact been in training that day!

“Yesterday, because today you weren’t here!” a bemused Candreva replied.

“You publish this today? But did you work?” was another taunt from Nainggolan directed towards the defender.
