Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi admitted that Roma deserved their 3-1 Derby della Capitale victory as he bemoaned his team’s lapses in concentration.

Goals from Lorenzo Pellegrini, Aleksander Kolarov and Federico Fazio handed the Giallorossi victory at the Stadio Olimpico, with Ciro Immobile getting on the scoresheet for the Aquile.

“I think that Lazio lost because Roma were more determined,” Inzaghi told the press.

“Certain episodes went against us but you need something extra to win a derby. We should’ve paid more attention to Olsen’s long ball and Kolarov’s freekick.

“We’re sorry for the disappointment we’ve given our fans, but we need to continue with this squad without any drama as the table looks good. Roma had something more and deserved it.”

Milan Badelj was brought on in the second half to partner Lucas Leiva in midfield and Inzaghi was quizzed on their burgeoning relationship on the pitch.

“They did very well,” the Lazio coach went on, “the equaliser was deserved and came about because of them too. Compared to in the past Roma played less football and were more compact. It was a shame to concede the foul that led to Kolarov’s goal.”

The result leaves Lazio in fourth place for now, one point ahead of their city rivals despite the defeat.
