After the president of Serie B had said on Tuesday that it would ‘not be possible to play in Serie B’ until October 9, Lega B have announced that there is no suspension of fixtures and that games will continue as scheduled.

The first three rounds of Serie B have been played with just 19 teams, as opposed to the usual 22, and with doubts still circulating over whether or not three more teams will be added into the league, it had been reported that games were suspended until further notice.

Now, though, Lega B have asserted that “Serie B is not suspended, the championship continues,” in an official press release on their website.

There are currently a number teams hoping to be placed into Serie B, though there will only be three places up for grabs if the league is returned to 22 teams. Pro Vercelli, Catania, Siena, Novara and Ternana are all looking to be ‘promoted’.

A decision as to whether or not the division will have three teams added will be made by Friday, September 21, with those teams to be chosen by Monday, September 24.
