Following the surprise announcement that Giuseppe Marotta will leave his role at Juventus, both AC Milan and Inter are reportedly monitoring the situation carefully.

Bianconeri president Andrea Agnelli announced over the weekend that upon the expiration of his current deal on October 25, the Juventus general manager of sporting affairs will depart the club.

He is expected to take a break from the game, having worked essentially non-stop with Atalanta, Sampdoria and most recently Juventus since entering the game in a directorial role in 2000.

However, according to Tuttosport, both Milan clubs are interested in the director and while Inter are credited with having an advantage at the moment, it also noted that the Rossoneri had been keen on him during the summer when they began their own boardroom shake-up.

It would not be a major inconvenience for either club to perform a slight restructuring to their directorial set-up to make room for Marotta, who is set to be in considerable demand when he does decide to return to the game.

Marotta is anticipated to sit out the remainder of the campaign, perhaps performing consultancy work for the FIGC as he awaits an offer to return to the game next year.
