Adam Ounas and Simone Verdi both came in for praise from Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti in the wake of the side’s 2-0 win over Sassuolo on Sunday night.

Both men have been starved of regular opportunities this season but in the wake of high profile encounters with Juventus and Liverpool, the former Chelsea coach opted to ring in the changes.

He brought in six new men from the side which lost in Turin, with Ounas scoring a fantastic volley and Verdi also impressing.

“I was impressed with the offensive moments of both Ounas and Verdi, both of them did well. Ounas was more of a stand out perhaps for the goal but I also think Verdi did a great job, particularly defensively,” said Ancelotti.

“The performance was good. We were better in the first half but Sassuolo made things more difficult for us in the second half and played well.

“I think we managed the game well and kept a clean sheet which is good. We just want to continue improving on our performances and remain competitive until the end.”

The result leaves the Partenopei six points off reigning champions and leaders Juventus after eight games played.
