Despite being without Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus strolled to a 3-0 win over Young Boys thanks to a Paulo Dybala hat-trick in their second Champions League game of the season.

Ronaldo was suspended for the game after his red card against Valencia, but it mattered not as three goals from Dybala gave the Bianconeri all three points in front of 41,000 fans at the Allianz Stadium.

Dybala’s first hat-trick in the competition means he now joins a group of just four players who have bagged three in one game for Juve in the Champions League – Filippo Inzaghi, Alessandro Del Piero, and Arturo Vidal are the others.

It also extends the Bianconeri’s unbeaten streak to 19 games during home matches in the Champions League group stage. Meanwhile, Mohamed Camara was also sent off for Young Boys as the game drew to a close.

Juventus took the lead five minutes in, after a beautifully weighted ball over the top from Bonucci found Dybala who volleyed past David von Ballmoos.

As expected Juventus were in the ascendency from there, and went close as Federico Bernardeschi shot was palmed away by the goalkeeper, before Dybala tried his luck again, but this time his effort from the edge of the area was straight at von Ballmoos.

Just after the half hour Dybala did get his second, after Juan Cuadrado crossed for Blaise Matuidi, though his initial shot was saved, but spilled by von Ballmoos into the path of the Argenitne, who made no mistake from close range.

After the break, Dybala immediately hit the post, thanks to a Bernardeschi through ball, before van Ballmoos gathered at the second attempt.

However, he did make it three after a nice team moved worked the ball out to Cuadrado on the right and he crossed for Dybala to tap in, from just two yards out.

Things went from bad to worse for Young Boys who were reduced to 10-men after Camara was given his second yellow card after his high arm caught Dybala in the face.

Substitute Moise Kean did have the ball in the back of the net once more, but it was ruled out for offside.

DESTRUCTIVE DYBALA

He only got three goals, but could have had a lot more. Almost singlehandedly he tore Young Boys apart and sent Juventus to the top of Group H. Initially partnering Mario Mandzukic, the young Argentinian found himself pulling the strings for the Bianconeri, who had essentially a training exercise. He now has more goals in this season’s Champions League than he managed all of last season in which he scored just once.

ALL TOO EASY

Young Boys offered very little, if anything at all. Szczesny didn’t make a save of note as the Swiss only managed one shot on target, with Juve claiming 60 percent possession as they strolled to their best ever start to a campaign – since 1929/20 when Serie A was founded. It is also an ominous sign that the Bianconeri won this match, as they have done a lot in the last few weeks, at a canter. It doesn’t matter who comes up against Massimiliano Allegri’s men, they brush them aside with ease.
