Chievo have announced the sacking of coach Lorenzo D’Anna, with former Italy boss Gian Piero Ventura set to take over.
The Gialloblu have struggled so far this season, earning two draws and six defeats in eight matches to sit at -1 in the standings due to their three point deduction for financial irregularities.
That poor run has proven too much for management to handle, and they announced on Tuesday that D’Anna has been let go.
“A.C. Chievo Verona announces that Lorenzo D’Anna has been relieved of the position of First Team manager,” read a statement on the club’s website.
“The club thanks him for his work, always performed with dedication, seriousness and honesty. D’Anna took over three matches from the end of last season, getting wins against Crotone, Bologna and Benevento.
“The club wishes him good luck for the rest of his career.”
Ventura is expected to take over in the coming hours, beating out Giuseppe Iachini for the job. It’s expected the former Italy boss will sign a contract that runs until the end of the season.
