After AC Milan snapped their winless run on Sunday with a convincing win over Sassuolo, coach Gennaro Gattuso called on the side to build on what was deemed a turning point in their season.

Following a streak in which the Diavolo failed to pick up three points, despite taking the lead on multiple occasions against Atalanta and Empoli, they put that behind them in convincing fashion.

With Olympiacos to come in the Europa League on Thursday night, the coach is now looking to find a level of consistency from his side.

“Many players in the dressing room talked about us reaching a turning point after the game on Sunday. Now we need to give consistency to what we are doing,” Gattuso told reporters at Milanello.

“After the three draws, we knew we had to pick up a win. We are a good football team but we must find the solidity and mentality as well as improving on our reading of the games.

“Now, we have a game in Europe and that is different from domestic matches. Football is a lot more tactical [in Serie A] and even the speed of play is different in Europe.

“Olympiacos are a good footballing side and are a very offensive team with great experience in Europe so they will arrive with a winning mentality.”

Gattuso also touched on the rumours linking his former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a return to the San Siro on a six-month loan deal in January, preferring to direct the question elsewhere.

“I know that it is his birthday today so I wish him well but I can only speak about the players in my squad who are available to me,” he added.

“That is a question for Maldini, Leonardo or Scaroni. All that I can say about Ibra today is that I wish him all the best.”
