Juventus defender Daniele Rugani was the subject of major interest from Chelsea over the summer, though his agent has revealed he never asked to leave the Bianconeri.
The 24-year-old is a favourite of current Blues manager Maurizio Sarri, and there were reports he asked for the Italian to join him at Stamford Bridge over the summer.
Rugani’s agent – Davide Torchia – confirmed Chelsea made a strong push to land his client, though talks never took off as the player never asked to leave Juventus.
“There was an important offer from Chelsea,” he told RMC Sport. “Juventus looked at the bid, but the player never asked to leave.
“He has never asked to leave Juventus and his goal is to earn a place in the starting line-up.
“Juve believe in the player and we will tackle the question of a new contract. It expires in 2021 so there is no rush, but we cannot wait too long either.”
Rugani has been limited to just one Serie A appearance so far this campaign.
