Despite their early struggles this season, AC Milan have been praised highly by former star Dejan Savicevic, who is a huge fan of how the club have been performing.
Although the Diavolo have started somewhat sluggishly, there have been signs of picking things up of late, with important wins over Olympiacos and Sassuolo.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Savicevic outlined just what it is about the current Rossoneri side that has impressed him so much.
“I really like this Milan. It is a beautiful Milan, it is a side who play good football and are growing all the time. [Gonzalo] Higuain has started scoring and is playing well, Suso is assisting and there is a good understanding there,” he explained.
“The last few games have convinced me. They are now coming into the [next] game against Inter in great shape. I think that they are playing better than the Nerazzurri.
“Is there enough imagination in this side? Yes, of course. When you have someone like Suso on the field, then things can go very well. We perhaps resemble each other a little but he is a complete player and possesses everything to become a great.
“Gattuso is also working well and I’m happy to see that but for a coach, it is the results that count.”
Given that the derby is now looming, the Montenegrin shared his thoughts on the Argentine striking battle between Higuain and compatriot Mauro Icardi and revealed why he thinks Milan have the better of the two forwards.
“They are two different types of strikes. For me, I prefer El Pipita because he scores goals but also participates in the game and the build-up, helping his teammates and improving the whole side,” he added.
“There is no doubt that Icardi is an extraordinary finisher but the team have to put themselves at his service.”
