With current options limited, AC Milan are set to enter the transfer market for a striker and are considering Sevilla man Luis Muriel.

The Rossoneri have been reliant on Gonzalo Higuain and teenage forward Patrick Cutrone, but with coach Gennaro Gattuso keen to deploy a 4-4-2 formation, a new arrival has been requested up front.

This has led to Tuttomercatoweb suggesting that Milan are considering an approach for former Sampdoria star Muriel, who would relish a return to Serie A after falling out of favour at Sevilla.

With Wissam Ben Yedder and Milan-loanee Andre Silva forcing him to the periphery of the first-team, Colombia international Muriel has found playing time hard to come by this season.

However, Rossoneri sporting director Leonardo is believed to still have doubts about the capability of Muriel and remains unconvinced by the 27-year-old.

Whilst Milan will continue to keep tabs on him, it is becoming increasingly likely that Leonardo will push for the club to turn their attention elsewhere, including former Rossoneri striker Alexandre Pato.

Muriel has scored 13 goals in 64 appearances for Sevilla since joining in a €21.6 million move from Sampdoria in 2017.
