After beating Roma 1-0 and moving to 49 points, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri reiterated the point that nothing is won yet.

Mario Mandzukic’s eighth Serie A goal of the season was enough to give the Bianconeri the win, and set a league record of 16 wins in the first 17 games.

“It’s great to have footballers who give me the availability the guys do,” Allegri told the press.

“We are improving in the defensive phase because of this, because when it comes to defence we have to help each other.

“I always say that four defenders couldn’t survive if they had to do everything alone. And the three midfielders would eventually become useless.

“We need everyone to make sacrifices, and have to continue like this if we are to win something at the end of the season. We haven’t won anything yet.

“Records are not trophies. We are aiming for the Coppa Italia, Serie A, Supercoppa, and hope to win the Champions League.”

In the first half, Juventus could have had three goals if it weren’t for Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who pulled off a string of excellent stops.

“Their goalkeeper made some great saves,”Allegri said. “And they also had a great game.

“After we went one up, the players understood the predicament they were in and tried to close out the game.

“Even when defending, you have to play as a team. We need to be humble.”
