AC Milan will go to court with former chief executive Marco Fassone, who has lodged a lawsuit against the club for unfair dismissal.

Following the summer takeover of the club by the Elliott group, the new owners were keen to shake things up at the San Siro and Fassone was shown the door in August as a result.

However, according to ANSA, he is now suing his old employers on the grounds that it was an unfair dismissal and wants that decision to be annulled through the courts.

On July 21, the club offered him a severance package to depart of €2.5 million but Fassone refused that, which ultimately led to his sacking and the resulting court case.

If Fassone is successful in court, it could result in his reinstatement in the position, with the first hearing to take place on Wednesday in Milan, where he will be represented by lawyer Francesco Rotondi.
