Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is reportedly a step away from joining AC Milan in January, having agreed a deal in principle for €70 million.
The Serbian international was close to joining the Rossoneri over the summer, and despite an underwhelming campaign for the Biancocelesti thus far, he is still held in high regard.
News from the Italian capital has arrived from journalist Franco Melli, who told Radio Radio that Milinkovic-Savic will complete a transfer to Milan in the January transfer window.
Having already wrapped up a €35m deal with Flamengo for Lucas Paqueta, sporting director Leonardo seems intent on reinforcing the Milan squad over the winter.
Melli is understood to be on close personal terms with Lazio President Claudio Lotito, fuelling speculation that the Rossoneri could indeed be set to land the club’s star man.
Milan were recently handed sanctions from UEFA having failed to fall in line with their Financial Fair Play regulations, and time will tell how the Rossoneri deal with those issues should they land the Serbian international.
