Napoli are ready to open negotiations over a renewal of Piotr Zielinski’s contract, as they look to ward off interest in the midfielder.

The Poland international has two-and-a-half years remaining on his existing deal, but Napoli are wary of interest from abroad, including Liverpool, and are keen to put any speculation to bed with a new agreement.

According to Tuttosport, the Partenopei are eager to include a minimum release clause of €90 million in the hope of driving away potential suitors, and are thought to be ready to meet the player’s demands of a €2.5m per season salary.

This would be supplemented by a further €300,000 per year in bonuses and Napoli remain confident that an agreement can be reached before the new year.

Their hopes of keeping hold of the 24-year-old are boosted by Zielinski’s personal situation, with both the player and his family believed to be settled in Naples and keen to remain at the club.

Since arriving from Udinese in 2016 after two successful seasons on loan at Empoli, the Polish star has scored 16 goals in 115 appearances for Napoli.
