Roma winger Diego Perotti admitted that he has given thought to a return to former club Boca Juniors, but insisted he is happy in Italy.

The Argentina international spent a brief loan spell at Boca in 2014 and had been linked with a return to the Buenos Aires club, following the arrival of ex-Roma centre-back Nicolas Burdisso as sporting director.

Perotti had featured alongside Burdisso at former club Genoa and whilst he spoke of highly of his compatriot, stressed that he was keen to see out his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I have a contract until 2021 and I am fine here at Roma,” the 30-year-old told Ataque Futbolero in his homeland. “We have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, my family are happy here and I want to respect my contract.

“Burdisso is an honest, sincere and serious man and one of the few like that in football. I have no doubts that he will be a success.

“I was lucky enough to play alongside him for a year-and-a-half, he was a great captain and friend. He was amongst those that helped me most during difficult periods. He taught me so much and I will be eternally grateful.”

Perotti has endured an injury-hit campaign this season which has limited him to just three appearances.
