Serie A Team of the Week | Round 18

Juventus were held to a 2-2 draw against Atalanta, as Rodrigo Bentancur saw red. Two goals from Duván Zapata nearly subjected the Bianconeri to a first league defeat of the season, but Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed an equaliser to keep their unbeaten streak intact.

Milan were held by Frosinone 0-0, in a chronically insipid display from the Rossoneri. A controversial VAR decision to rule out a goal and a couple of decent stops from Gianluigi Donnarumma were the only things keeping Gennaro Gattuso’s side from an embarrassing defeat.

Inter grabbed a late win over Napoli at the San Siro, with Lautaro Martínez snatching it at the death. Napoli ended the game with nine men following red cards to Kalidou Koulibaly and Lorenzo Insigne.

Elsewhere, Torino, Lazio, Parma, Roma, Cagliari and Sampdoria all recorded victories as SPAL and Udinese played out a dull 0-0 draw.

Our Team of the Week will see the usual 3-4-3 formation deployed. Let us know your thoughts!

Gianluigi Donnarumma – AC Milan
In a toothless display from Milan their talismanic keeper can be thanked for preventing further embarrassment, with two good saves ensuring the Rossoneri limped away with a point.

Luiz Felipe – Lazio
A goal and an assist from the defender earnt Lazio a comfortable 2-0 victory in the Inzaghi derby. The Brazilian was effective up top and comfortable at the back.

Nicolas N’Koulou – Torino (2 Team of the Week Appearances)
Scored a header to put Torino ahead. Comfortable, assured performance: completing 75 out of 76 passes.

Paolo Ghiglione – Frosinone
Forced two decent saves from Donnarumma in an effective debut for the 21-year-old Genoa loanee.

Lorenzo De Silvestri – Torino
Scored an excellent goal with his left foot from the edge of the box in a solid performance from Torino.

Senad Lulic – Lazio
A goal at the death to wrap up the points. Positive going forward and tenacious defensively: claimed nine ball recoveries and three tackles in a solid performance

Nicolo Zaniolo – Roma (2 apps)
Looked bright throughout and showed excellent composure to turn and dink a chip audaciously over a sprawling Sassuolo defender and keeper for his first goal for the club.

Gaston Ramirez – Sampdoria (3 apps)
Goal and assist in a good offensive display from the Uruguayan.

Patrick Schick – Roma
Had an eventful day, winning a penalty for his side, which Diego Perotti coolly converted. Then he was within a cat’s whisker of scoring an own-goal, albeit he got away with it as the entire ball did not cross the line. Got himself on the scoresheet showing composure to round the keeper and slot the ball in for Roma’s second.

Duvan Zapata – Atalanta (4 apps)
Great turn and finish to draw Atalanta level and then a predatory header to edge them in front. Unfortunately for La Dea, they were denied a victory by a Cristiano Ronaldo equaliser.

Fabio Quagliarella – Sampdoria (3 apps)
Seven goals in his last six games for the 35-year-old after another goal today: a trademark acrobatic flick putting Samp on their way to victory. Could have had two as he leathered a free-kick against the crossbar later on.
