Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans could be a target for AC Milan in the January transfer window having lost out to the Ligue 1 side in their pursuit of Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old has been part of an underachieving Monaco side that went from title challengers to fighting to avoid relegation, with Thierry Henry replacing Leonardo Jardim as head coach.

As the arrival of Fabregas is likely to bring more competition for places in the first team, Sport Mediaset understands Milan could attempt to bring Tielemans to the Stadio San Siro this month.

Any deal for the Belgian would take the form of a loan deal with right to purchase the player outright at the end of the season, owing to the financial constraints placed on the club by UEFA.

Milan have been boosted by the arrival of former Monaco head scout Geoffrey Moncada this season, who would be ideally placed to furnish the Rossoneri with a detailed report on Tielemans.
