AC Milan look set to complete the signing of Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek in the coming hours, assuming they can satisfy both the Grifone and Financial Fair Play regulations.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a memorable start to his career in Italy, scoring 19 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions for Genoa since his move from Cracovia in the summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands today could be crucial for both Milan and Genoa in terms of getting the deal for Piatek completed, with a meeting scheduled to conclude negotiations.

Milan sporting director Leonardo will meet Genoa president Enrico Preziosi to define the details of the move, which is understood to be a €15 million loan fee with a further €25 million purchase clause.

Piatek is prepared to sign a contract until 2023 worth €2 million a season, replacing Chelsea-bound striker Gonzalo Higuain as the club’s main forward.

The Polish international is currently serving a league suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, meaning he will miss his current side’s upcoming home fixture against Milan.
