A comfortable and straightforward 2-0 win at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara saw Juventus through to the Coppa Italia quarter-finals but Massimiliano Allegri was not completely satisfied with the performance.

Juve took an early lead through Federico Bernardeschi and it wasn’t until the second half that Moise Kean doubled their lead.

“The guys played well at the beginning and had a good approach,” he said at his post-match press conference.

“Then after going ahead we made two or three mistakes when trying to score.

“We were moving the ball backwards instead of forwards and then we went asleep a little.

“We played it safe, conceded two or three shots but then in the second half we reassembled and closed the game.”

Bernardeschi and Douglas Costa covered the entirety of the pitch on the night and Allegri said that everyone other than Kean was expected to be mobile.

“The only one who had to stay up front was Kean,” he added.

“The others had to move everywhere and Federico had a good game.

“I’m happy for him because he is back to being the player he was at the beginning of the season.

“This is a time, with [Mario] Mandzukic out that these players become important, or even more important than they were.”

On the Croatian, Allegri confirmed that he will be sidelined for another while yet.

“He will be out for at least a couple of week, certainly.”
