With the transfer market in full swing, Sassuolo talisman Kevin-Prince Boateng has been linked with a shock move to Barcelona.

The 31-year-old only moved to the Mapei Stadium in the summer, and after being deployed as a striker for most of the Serie A campaign, the former AC Milan midfielder could be on his way to Spain.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Barcelona have been in talks with Sassuolo about a move for he Ghanian, and could seal a deal before the end of Monday, with a six-month loan and option to make the move permanent for €6 million at the end of the season.

The Catalans are on the lookout for a new frontman after selling El Haddadi to Sevilla earlier in January, and alternatives such as Alvaro Morata, Carlos Vela and Cristhian Stuani have fallen by the wayside.

Boateng spent the 2016/17 season in La Liga with Las Palmas, making 28 appearances in the competition.
