Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is reportedly closing in on a move to Juventus, although Massimiliano Allegri will not allow Leonardo Spinazzola to depart this winter even with that acquisition.

Although interest has surfaced in recent days from Inter in the former Torino man and they had hoped to make a late move for him, it appears the Bianconeri are the frontrunners for his signature.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the need for Juventus to bring in Darmian was heightened by the injury to Juan Cuadrado, who they believe could be sidelined for longer than the anticipated three months.

Given the Italy international’s struggles to break into the first team at Old Trafford in recent years, he is open to an exit and has agreed to a €3 million annual salary with the Italian champions.

Juventus have proposed an initial €4m loan offer, with the right to purchase Darmian permanently for a fee of €8m, while the Red Devils are keen on an outright sale this month.

Inter’s late assault on the full-back has seen them offer similar terms to their rivals, with €3m for a loan and €8m to make the move permanent, although they have offered the player more – with €3.5m per campaign.

Meanwhile, even if Juventus to bring in Darmian, Allegri has vetoed a move to Bologna for Spinazzola, who were determined to secure his services and had coach Filippo Inzaghi make an impassioned pitch to the player and as a result, the Rossoblu are expected to move for Martin Caceres instead.
