Chelsea have completed the loan signing of Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain after the Argentine cut short his spell at AC Milan.

The former Napoli star moved to the Stadio San Siro from Juventus at the start of the season on an initial loan with an option to make the move permanent in the summer. However, with Genoa forward Kryzsztof Piatek arriving at Milan, the Rossoneri sent Higuain back to Turin in order for him to complete his switch to the Premier League.

Chelsea have moved to bring the 31-year-old to England and took to their official website to announce a loan deal until the end of the season.

“When the opportunity to join Chelsea presented itself I had to take it,” Higuain told Chelseafc.com. “It’s a team that I have always liked, with a lot of history, a wonderful stadium and they play in the Premier League, a league I have always wanted to compete in.

“I now hope I can give back the trust that Chelsea have shown me on the pitch. I can’t wait to start and I hope to adapt as quickly as possible.”

Higuain leaves Milan after eight goals in his half-season at the club, having scored 55 in 105 appearances for Juventus from 2016-2018.
