Barcelona have officially signed Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo, the Spanish side announced on Monday evening.

Rumours swirled around the peninsula earlier in the day that both clubs had unexpectedly agreed to a move.

Boateng will move on loan to Barcelona for the rest of the season, with he Blaugrana having the option to make the move permanent for €8 million in the summer.

He will be officially presented on Tuesday and is set to take the No.19 jersey, and returns to LaLiga after a spell with Las Palmas in 2016/17.

Upon leaving Italy, Boateng said to Sky Sport Italia: “You can’t say no to Barcelona. I want to thank Sassuolo, as it wasn’t easy to leave this team.

“Of course I’m excited, I’m going to the biggest club in the world, but I’m also a bit sad. It was important to say goodbye to everyone. I have a lot of respect for this club [Sassuolo].”
