AC Milan will have to contend with the interest of Liverpool if they are to emerge as the winners in their pursuit of PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn.

The 21-year-old has shone for the Dutch side this campaign and has been attracting interest from across Europe, with nine assists and ten goals in 25 appearances for PSV.

Despite positive early signs from De Telegraaf, recent news from Calciomercato.com claims the arrival of Liverpool to the negotiation table could deter the Rossoneri from continuing their pursuit.

Milan had felt comfortable with crosstown rivals Inter registering their own interest in Bergwijn, but the arrival of Liverpool could tip the balance in favour of the Premier League giants.

PSV would demand a figure of no less than €20 million to part company with the talented youngster, who has already made his senior debut for the Dutch national team.

The presence of former Milan midfielder Mark van Bommel as PSV head coach could work to Milan’s advantage further down the line.
