The impressive performances of Nicolo Zaniolo at Roma have the club set to reward him with a salary increase and large buyout clause as they aim to ward off interest in his services.

Since his summer move from Inter, the youngster has caught the attention when he has been called upon for his eye for goal and flair for the spectacular along with his fancy footwork.

According to La Repubblica, the club are determined to avoid anyone swooping to sign the standout by offering him a wage increase in a revised contract, which will also include a €40 million release clause.

The 19-year-old’s annual salary will jump to €1m net per campaign on the deal that he penned last summer until 2023 in a bid to keep both the player happy and put off potential suitors.

Among the clubs who had been registered with an interest in Zaniolo included Arsenal, as a result of his eye-catching displays at the Stadio Olimpico.

The former Inter man has scored twice in two Serie A starts this season, while he has also made his Champions League debut.
