Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed captain Marek Hamsik is in talks to move to China, and that the Partenopei won’t stand in his way should he ask to leave.

The 31-year-old was linked with an exit in the summer but ultimately opted to stay at the Stadio San Paolo.

That could change as soon as Monday, as La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Dalian Yifang are set to land the Slovakian for €20 million – with the player earning €9m a season.

“There are talks ongoing and we are evaluating them with the player,” he told Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“Marek has made history with Napoli, and if there is a desire on his behalf to try a new experience we are ready to accommodate that.

“We don’t have a Hamsik replacement in the team, but we have enough players to cover for him and they have different characteristics. We let [Marko] Rog go because we have an abundance of midfielders.”

Hamsik joined Napoli from Brescia in 2007. Saturday’s victory over Sampdoria marked his 520th appearance for the club.
