Despite only joining Marseille in January, striker Mario Balotelli has revealed he wants to end his career at Brescia.

The 28-year-old left Nice for the French giants on January 23, and he marked his debut appearance with a goal in a 2-1 defeat to Lille.

Balotelli – who was born in Palermo but grew up in Brescia – stated that while he didn’t consider returning to Italy this past month, he hopes to play for his hometown club before hanging up his boots.

“Italian football is too tactical and a bit boring,” he told Quelli che il Calcio in an interview that will air on Sunday.

“I didn’t really consider a return to Serie A over the past few months, but I can’t hide that fact that I would like to end my career at Brescia.”

Balotelli also didn’t shy away from his desire to return to the Italian national team, though he wants to show he is deserving of a recall by performing on the pitch.

“[Roberto] Mancini is the coach that knows me the best,” he added. “However, I don’t want any special treatment.

“I want the national team and I have to earn my way back on the field by scoring lots of goals.”
